Advikoff-DX Syrup is a combination medicine used in the treatment of dry cough. It reduces the urge to cough by suppressing the activity of the cough center in the brain. It also helps thin and loosen mucus in the airway and makes it easier to cough up and expel phlegm. Advikoff-DX Syrup may be taken with or without food. However, take it in the exact dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. Also, continue taking this medicine for as long as your doctor prescribes it even if you feel better. If you stop taking the medicine abruptly, the symptoms may return.The use of this medicine may cause drowsiness, dry mouth, upset stomach, and headache in some individuals. Usually, these symptoms subside over time but if you experience any of them persist or do not go away, let your doctor know. They may be able to help by adjusting the dosage or by prescribing an alternative medicine.Do not take Advikoff-DX Syrup if you have a known history of allergic reactions to any of the ingredients of this medicine. Let your doctor know if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines. To ensure that this medication is safe for you, also inform the doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctors before taking this medicine.

How it Works

Advikoff-DX Syrup is a combination of four different medications. Cetirizine blocks the effects of histamine, a chemical produced by the body in response to allergens, and helps to reduce allergy symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy or watery eyes. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that acts on the cough center in the brain. It helps to reduce the urge to cough by inhibiting the brain signals that trigger the cough reflex. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that helps to loosen and thin mucus in the airways, making it easier to expel phlegm and clear the respiratory passages. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that works by constricting blood vessels in the nasal passages which reduces swelling and congestion.
