Dezist Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat dry cough. It thins the mucus in the nose and windpipe, making it easier to cough out. It also relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, throat irritation, and sneezing. Dezist Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Dezist Syrup is a combination of four medicines: Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Menthol, Cetirizine and Phenylpropanolamine which relieve dry cough. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of cough centre in the brain. Menthol produces a sensation of coolness and relieves minor throat irritation. Cetirizine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Phenylpropanolamine is a sympathomimetic agonist. It narrows blood vessels in the nose to relieve congestion.
