Dromox-DM Eye Drop is a medicine used to treat bacterial eye infections. It works by stopping the growth of microorganisms and killing the existing ones that cause the infection. It also lubricates the eyes and blocks the production of certain chemicals that make the affected area red, swollen, and itchy.Dromox-DM Eye Drop is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Use it regularly at evenly spaced time intervals as prescribed by your doctor. You should not discontinue using the medicine unless your doctor tells you so. Stopping the medication before time may allow the bacteria to continue their growth, which may result in the return of the infection. Avoid using contact lenses while on treatment with this medicine. It is effective in killing many types of bacteria. However, it will not work for other types of eye infections (e.g., viral) and, therefore, should only be used if prescribed by your doctor. Unnecessary use of any antibiotic can lead to a decrease in its effectiveness in the future. Some people may experience local reactions such as burning, irritation, itching, and redness immediately after application. However, these are usually temporary and resolve with time. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or if your condition worsens. It may cause some short-term blurring of vision. Do not drive immediately after administering this medicine in the eye. Let your doctor know if you are using any other medicines for the treatment of the same condition.
Dromox-DM Eye Drop is a combination of three medicines: Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Moxifloxacin, and Prednisolone. Moxifloxacin is an antibiotic which prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing. This kills the bacteria that cause eye infection. Dexamethasone is a steroid. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause inflammation and make the eyes red, swollen and itchy. Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a lubricant. It works similar to natural tears and provides temporary relief from burning and discomfort in the eyes.
