Ledercort N Ointment is a combination medicine used in the treatment of skin infections. It works by killing the microorganisms that cause infection. It also blocks the release of certain chemical messengers that cause redness, swollen, and itching. Ledercort N Ointment is for external use only. You should use it as advised by your doctor. You should normally wash and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer of gel once or twice a day. You should not apply it to damaged or broken skin and avoid contact with your mouth, eyes, and nose. It may take several weeks for your symptoms to improve and several months to get maximum benefit, consult your doctor after a month of regular use of this medicine, if your condition is not improving.It has some common side effects including itching, stinging, peeling and redness of the skin. They are not usually serious but, if they bother you or do not go away, tell your doctor. You may need to apply smaller amounts or use it less often.It is not likely that other medicines you take by mouth or injection will affect the way this medicine works, but talk to your doctor before using it if you have recently used another medicine for the infection. The medicine is not recommended for pregnant women. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctors before using this medicine.
Ledercort N Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Neomycin and Triamcinolone which treat skin infections. Neomycin is an antibiotic which kills bacteria by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Triamcinolone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy.
